Your website brightness preferences stay on your device. The extension does not send them to us or to any third party. No account is required.

What this policy covers

This policy describes how Chrome Brightness Reducer Extension, published by LESS BAD CO., LTD., handles information while you use the extension to dim individual websites.

Information handled on your device

The extension reads the current website address to identify its host (the domain name and, when present, port). When you adjust brightness, it stores that host together with a brightness value from 0 to 100 in Chrome's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local). For example, a saved preference may associate example.com with a brightness value of 55.

The host is used to find the right preference on later visits and reloads. The extension does not store full page URLs, page titles, visit times, or a chronological browsing history. It does not collect page contents, form entries, passwords, messages, payment information, or recordings of clicks, scrolling, or keystrokes.

How this information is used

Website hosts and brightness values are used only to display, save, and restore your chosen brightness for each website, including keeping open pages for the same host consistent. They are not used for advertising, profiling, credit decisions, or purposes unrelated to this feature.

Storage, sharing, and retention

Preferences are stored locally in your Chrome profile. The extension does not use Chrome cloud sync for these preferences, make network requests, include analytics or tracking services, or transmit extension user data to the publisher or third parties. We do not receive, sell, or share this locally stored information.

Saved preferences remain until the extension's local storage is cleared or the extension is uninstalled. You can change a website's preference using the toolbar popup. Choosing 100% restores the page's original brightness but retains the saved preference. Uninstalling the extension removes its local extension storage.

Why permissions are needed

• activeTab: identifies the active website when you open the toolbar popup so you can adjust that website's brightness.
• scripting: runs the extension's bundled brightness script in an already-open page when needed, allowing adjustment without reloading the page.
• storage: saves website hosts and brightness preferences on your device.
• HTTP and HTTPS website access: applies a dimming overlay and restores saved brightness automatically on ordinary websites. The overlay allows clicks and scrolling to pass through.

All executable code is included in the extension package. The extension does not load remote executable code.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The use of information received from Google APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. The extension uses locally handled website information solely to provide its website brightness feature.
